Instructional Sequence

Students find internet sites with formulas and calculators for body fat.
See the reference page for suggested sites.

Students read and report on ways to compute body fat.

Students measure and use journal measurement to compute body fat using
several different methods. (At least one method should be done using a
formula).

Find the average of your computations and enter into journal to be used
later in the BodyComp Stella model.

Students complete Body Fat Measure worksheet.
Student Assessment

The Body Fat Worksheet will be graded and the percent body fat will
be entered into the Journal.
Lesson Assessment

Students will give feedback about the lesson on the Body Fat Worksheet.
Plans for flex activities (i.e. what happens if lesson goes too
quickly or slowly)

This activity may be carried over to a second day of more time is needed.

If the lesson goes too fast, students could use more methods to measure
body fat.
