Correlation Research Guide

Purpose

• To learn about how obesity correlates with cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

Materials

· Library research materials—books, periodicals, newspapers

· Internet research materials—especially see the resources under “Resources” in this Module

Procedure

· Read and answer questions in your Journal.

· Search at least five different sources and write citation information telling where you found all your information.

• Where do you find the highest rates of obesity in the region, state, nation, and world?

· Where do you find the highest rates of cardiovascular disease in the region, state, nation, and world?

· Where do you find the highest rates of diabetes in the region, state, nation, and world?

Conclusion

• Write a one page report in your Journal explaining why you think might be correlated with cardiovascular disease and diabetes. After studying your research and your model, do you think that one of these causes the other or that any correlation might be caused by something else? Why? Give evidence from both the model and your research. If you think that there is an underlying cause of all these, what is it? Give evidence from both the model and your research.
