Incidence Research Guide

Purpose

• To learn about the incidence of obesity in the region, state, nation, and world

Materials

· Library research materials—books, periodicals, newspapers

· Internet research materials—especially see the resources under “Resources” in this Module

Procedure

· Read and answer questions in your Journal.

· Search at least five different sources and write citation information telling where you found all your information.

• Where do you find the highest rates of obesity in the region, state, nation, and world?

· Can you see any similarities in the areas that have high rates of obesity?

· Can you see any similarities in the areas that have low rates of obesity?

Conclusion

• Write a one page report in your Journal explaining why you think obesity occurs where it does. What factors you think might lead to obesity and why? Explain all your statements and use data from your research to support your statements. Be sure to say where you found your data.
