Day 3: Diffusion in the Environment

Objective:

1. Examine the concept of runoff as it related to water pollution.

2.  Apply the process of diffusion to water quality.

Texas Standards (TEKS) and National Standards:

             Ab1A, b2C, and b1A; included in TAKS

Materials:

1. Computer lab with Internet access and a word processing program

2. PowerPoint Presentation handout of key slides and the Questions Part I and II

3.  Projection device to display PowerPoint Presentation

Activity:

  1.Using the PowerPoint presentation, Watersheds and Surface Water Runoffs, the teacher will guide the students through an exploration of how functions are applied to water pollution, and an examination of the terms diffusion, runoff, contaminants, insoluble materials, and watersheds.

2. Using the PowerPoint presentation handout, the students will take notes and then complete the assignments entitled Questions I and II. When finished, the students will turn their work in to the teacher or email it.
