MODULE DESCRIPTION

Students will use various resources to learn what ozone is, its causes and effects.

Through laboratory activities students will:

·        learn ozone detection processes and will practice data collection techniques,

·        practice atmospheric data collection techniques used in the field studies, and

·        learn to use various databases which can provide historical data to be used in conjunction with the locally collected data.

Various ozone models will be used to help students understand the concept of computer modeling and to enable them to see how certain factors affect ozone levels.

At the end of the module using the locally collected data, students will develop a mathematical model which will allow prediction of ozone levels for the west metro area of Atlanta.
