What is the purpose of this activity?

The purpose of this activity is to introduce high school students to the world of mathematic modeling through the exploration of the human cardiovascular system. In biology you will get to manipulate a pre-made model of the effect of increased cholesterol in a persons diet on his chance of having a heart attack.

In the Physics class you will be exploring the behavior of fluids when it passes through a tube by performing an experiment.  A STELLA model will be constructed and the experimental data will be verified by changing parameters that pertaining to the flow of fluids.  This model will be used as a basis to understand the blood flowing through arteries and intricacies in heart attacks.
