This document was prepared in Microsoft Word and saved as a web accessible file.

 

You can directly enter links in the document by simply referencing the web address as in http://www.eot.org/ and you can enter e-mail addresses for points of contact by directly entering the full address as in scott@ncsa.uiuc.edu  

 

Have a go at it – post your own documents from Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.

 

Note – if you look at the source file or page source, you will see that the html that is created by these commercial packages is often very complex and not the kind of documents in which you’ll want to hard-code html tags or make edits to the html source.

 

You can insert images within the Word file, such as this logo from the Chem Viz project which follows:

 

 




 

 

If you look at the source code, you find that Word creates a folder of files including this image in its own file.  This folder is created in the current working directory.

 

Try creating a file with a few images.
