My motivation for teaching:
My motivation for teaching is through the students I touch. Girls lag behind in the field of technology and it is my hope to spark an interest in technology related fields. One day, I hope to see an equal number or more of females with careers in this area. I am also motivated by the change in routine from day to day. Not only does the changing technology keep me going but the changing personalities. When you teach you never know what will happen next.
My favorite quote:
"Life is what you make it . . ., always has been, always will be."
A personal humorous school story:
One story that comes to mind is when I was teaching a computer applications class and we were six weeks into Microsoft Word. I had a class of 26 sudents and they were all diligently working on a project. I stopped them at one point and said "we are going to do a table of contents together, let's all get a clean sheet of paper." One little girl got a tablet of paper out and started handing out sheets of paper to some of the classmates around her. I said "what are you doing?" She replied "getting out a clean sheet of paper." I realized then, I needed to be very clear in my instructions. Most students did know I meant a clean sheet of paper in Word and they did hit the new page icon. I think some of the students getting the paper were wondering what she was doing as well.
