Teaching Tips!

Thought Provoking Questions:

                  1.            Which predatory fish would be most effective for stocking Big Creek?

                  2.            How long will it take the fish they’ve already stocked to grow large enough to be effective predators of the gizzard shad?

                  3.            Why did the DNR stock so many wipers?

                  4.            What are the growth proportions (length vs. gape) for all the predatory fish stocked in Big Creek?

                  5.            What would happen if more pan fish were stocked?

                  6.            What would happen if the spawn rate of the gizzard shad could be decreased?

                  7.            How was the gizzard shad introduced into Big Creek in the first place?

                  8.            What would happen if the pan fish habitat were increased?

                  9.            What happens when too many game fish are removed from Big Creek?

              10.            What are the best predatory fish to stock?

Time Frame:

In order to buy time to meet the requirements for this project as well as to meet the other  biology benchmarks, regular biology will be taught 3 days per week.  Students will work on this project the remaining two days.  Some compacting will occur with the regular biology curriculum.
