How do we model Centripetal Force?
The Stella model is used to compute Centripetal Force. It is designed as a lab based tool
where a student could collect data of an objects mass, revolutions over time, and distance
from center and place them into the model to calculate the force. They could then compare
this to the observed value. From this they are to account for variables not included in the
model and then change the model accordingly. Some of the math invloved in the model was to
use revolutions and time to arrive at m/s, which is what the force sensor uses for velocity.
The formula for centripetal force is also included in the flow, F=(mv^2)/r. It should be noted
that the radius is used in two places, once as part of the Force formula and to arrive at m/s.
