    What will I learn?

Upon completion of this module the student will be able to:

    • Understand the terminology relating to DO and the different parameters that affect the river.
    • Explain the process of photosynthesis and its relationship to the DO levels in a river.
    • Explain the process of respiration and its relationship to the DO levels in a river.
    • Explain the relationships among nitrates, algal blooms, bacteria, decomposition and DO levels.
    • Explain the relationship between turbulence and DO levels.
    • Analyze data and form conclusions.
    • Write an informative letter to an appropriate agency.
    • Use a Stella DEMO to learn how to manipulate a model
    • Manipulate the DO Model to change outcomes
    • Design a simple model
