What do I need to know about
    Troubled Waters?

There are many environmental factors that occur in our rivers that can cause fluctuations in parameters.

This Stella model will use three parameters – DO, turbulence, and sewage load.

Your task is to determine the relationship between the environment and the following parameters:

    • temperature
    • salinity
    • DO
    • pH
    • nitrates
    • phosphates
    • fecal coliform bacteria

You must do research to obtain this information. (see “Show me other web pages on this topic”)

You will also need the chemical equations for photosynthesis and respiration.

Do you know the reactants and products for each reaction?
