    Welcome to
    pHascinating pH

The goal of this module is to provide activities, experiments, and models which will increase student understanding of the concept of chemical pH. The module is multi-grade level and will impact students in the areas of physical science, chemistry, mathematics and environmental science. The basic foundations will be laid in the physical science area where students will learn to differentiate between acids and bases using the pH scale. Visualization and simple modeling will be incorporated. The chemistry section will focus on student understanding of the computation of pH using a defined algorithm. Students will apply their knowledge of pH to environmental science by developing and performing an experiment. This experiment will involve pH testing of soil samples from a garden plot. Students will learn to collect and analyze data and then make the appropriate adjustments to correct any problems discovered.
