Science Teaching Standards:

TEACHING STANDARD A:
Teachers of science plan an inquiry-based science program for their students. In doing this, teachers

Component How it is addressed and met
Select teaching and assessment strategies that support the development of student understanding and nurture a community of science learners. Students will be using an inquiry-based approach to study pendulum motion. In addition, the students will develop computational models that add to their understanding of the periodic motion of a pendulum.

Science Content Standards:

CONTENT STANDARD A: Science as Inquiry - As a result of activities in grades 9-12, all students should develop
Component How it is addressed and met
Understandings about scientific inquiry Students will be using an inquiry- based approach in their initial study of pendulum motion.

CONTENT STANDARD E: Science and Technology - As a result of activities in grades 9-12, all students should develop
Component How it is addressed and met
Abilities of technological design Students will develop computational models of pendulum motion using spreadsheets. Students will use computational modeling techniques using STELLA. They will also study the pendulum problem using STELLA modeling software.
