This project is designed to give you a hands-on approach to learning about simple harmonic motion. An alternative to traditional classroom presentations, this module requires that you hypothesize, analyze and synthesize information regarding simple harmonic motion through use of a pendulum. Whatever the task, the hope is that you will appreciate the effects that act on the motion of a pendulum and the application of what you learn to real-world systems involving simple harmonic motion.
This module will require that you be proficient with a computer spreadsheet program and will introduce you to a computer modeling software tool called STELLA.
By the end of this project, you will be assessed on your inquiry-based lab with a spreadsheet program and your model design using STELLA.
