What is the extent of SPB infestation in Tennessee?

Tennessee is divided into 95 counties.

Calculate:

  1. The percentage of counties that were infested (but not yet in epidemic stage) with the SPB.
  2. The percentage of counties that were in the epidemic stage of infestation.
  3. The percentage of counties that were not yet infested with the SPB.

Using the percentages you calculated above, construct a pie chart of the SPB Infestation in 1999.

Calculate:
  1. The percentage of counties that were infested (but not yet in epidemic stage) with the SPB.
  2. The percentage of counties that were in the epidemic stage of infestation.
  3. The percentage of counties that were not yet infested with the SPB.
  4. How many more counties were in the epidemic stage in November 2000 than in 1999?

Using the percentages you calculated above, construct a pie chart of the SPB Infestation for November 2000.

Calculate:
  1. The percentage of counties that were infested (but not yet in epidemic stage) with the SPB.
  2. The percentage of counties that were in the epidemic stage of infestation.
  3. The percentage of counties that were not yet infested with the SPB.
  4. How many more counties moved to the epidemic stage in the period between November 2000 and December 2000-February 2001?

Using the percentages you calculated above, construct a pie chart of the SPB Infestation for December 2000-February 2001

Calculate:
  1. The percentage of counties that were infested (but not yet in epidemic stage) with the SPB.
  2. The percentage of counties that were in the epidemic stage of infestation.
  3. The percentage of counties that were not yet infested with the SPB.

Using the percentages you calculated above, construct a pie chart of the SPB Infestation for April 2001.

Compare the four maps.

  1. Select the two that exhibit the most differences.  Defend your answer.
  2. Examining the maps in chronological order, what trend do your observe?  Defend your answer.
