Anatomy of a Curve Teacher Notes

1. It is suggested that you take the class on a school bus where measurements can be collected. If you do decide to have students drive the Fine Silver curve (beware of your possible liability), they should not exceed the maximum speed posted.

2. Students should work in groups of four.

3. Remind students that they can measure acceleration using the Low-g accelerometer with the LabPro.

4. Be sure students note which direction they have their Low-g accelerometer pointing in the first curve.

5. The angle of banking can be found using Texas Department of Transportation plans of the I-35 to I-10 curve.
