AIR QUALITY: HOW CAN WE SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?

    A Note to Teachers
What is this activity? A Note to Students

Is this the city you live in?

What is wrong with these two pictures?

Houston we have a problem --There is too much smog in the air! Are you a concerned citizen? Go to www.epa.gov/oar/oaqps/gooduphigh to read more about the ozone which currently exists in our environment.  For each of the questions below go to the websites below and record your responses in your journal.

WebQuest 1:  Go to " What is ozone?"

Write a one page description about the good ozone and the bad ozone  that would explain  "We live with ozone every day.  It can protect life or harm it, but we have the power to influence ozone's impact by the way we live."

WebQuest 2:  Go to bad ozone and how does bad ozone affect the health and human environment?

Describe four negative impacts of bad ozone on health and the environment.  Explain what causes the bad ozone.  Then, suggest one action you would take to reduce bad ozone concentration. Create a poster using the information you have found.

Now, you are ready to explore Smog City.  To your left select RUN SMOG CITY.
