Lab Report for Newton’s Law of Cooling
Students will write a lab report that will include the following information:
 
¨Statement of Objective:Determine why the student is doing the investigation and what the goals are.This section should be clear and concise.
 
¨List of Materials:This is the only section of the report that is allowed to be bulleted.All materials/equipment used during the performance of the investigation are listed here.

¨Procedure:This section should summarize all that the student did in the performance of the investigation and should be written in paragraph form.Any tables should be included in this section of the report.

 

¨Data:All data taken should be listed in this section. This should be the original data, if any changes were made they should be explained and the new data should be listed.

 

¨Calculations:Calculations should be clearly labeled and commented upon when not self-explanatory.When doing numerical calculations, keep the appropriate number of significant digits.

 

¨Graphs:Each graph should be titled and the axes labeled with the units indicated.Graphs may be hand drawn or downloaded from a computer.

 

¨Conclusion:In this final section, the results should be summarized.What new techniques were developed?What relationships were discovered?Were there any significant sources of error?Are there any improvements to the procedures to limit the error?

 
The report should be written in the passive voice and in paragraph form (with the exception of the list of materials).
