    What does the model look like?


    How do we model Gibberellic Acid and its effect on Plant Growth?

    This Model represents the effect of Gibberellic Acid on plant growth. The model was designed to show you, the user, the difference between plant growth when it is sprayed with Gibberelic Acid and when it is not. If you do not know the growth rate of a plant we allow you to make an educated guess to change it with a slide. To make an educated guess try to think of the plant without hormone and how tall it would be on day forty, than make the appropriate line fit that idea. After doing this you can decide how much hormone you want to apply to the plant by using the slider for Gibberellic Acid. After changing the Gibberellic Acid slider to the appropriate amount the model will show you how it has affected a plant compared to the same plant without hormone.

    What does Mathematics have to do with it?

    For the plant that is not stimulated, the growth rate was figured as a percentage of the plant's original height. The stock labeled height accumulates the heights for each day.
    For the plant that is stimulated, the growth rate was still figured as a percentage of the plant's original height but was affected by the amount of Gibberellic Acid. The amount of Gibberellic Acid can be changed with the slider. The height of experiment still accumulates the daily heights so that they can be charted.
